New in LumiDB: Progressive LOD Streaming Viewer
We’ve brought progressive 3D Tiles streaming to the LumiDB Viewer, letting users instantly see full 3D datasets and get live query results without waiting. This major upgrade is part of a broader summer rollout focused on delivering a smooth, high-performance experience for exploring and analyzing massive point cloud datasets.

At LumiDB, we’re building a database for reality capture data that makes handling big point cloud datasets easy, accessible and fun. Request access to the private beta to try it out!
In my previous post, we announced support for 3D Tiles in LumiDB’s API, which enables progressive LOD streaming directly from LumiDB into any app compatible with the 3D Tiles spec, such as Cesium.js. We’re thrilled to share that progressive streaming has now landed in our own Viewer as well!

The user now instantly sees the entire 3D dataset when opening it. When querying the data either by drawing polygons on the map or changing filters, the results get streamed in instantly without the users having to wait for the queries to complete before seeing anything on the screen. And of course, when the camera moves, more detail gets automatically streamed in, making navigation and the user experience in general a lot more enjoyable.

This is but one in the series of improvements we’re rolling out during the summer as part of a major overhaul of the entire visualization tool. We’re working with our partners to create a user experience that makes it a breeze to manage, discover, visualize, understand and analyze 3D point cloud datasets. Stay tuned for more updates, and request access to the private beta to get on board!
